| HARDY PLANT SOCIETY – SPRING SYMPOSIUM MARCH 5, 2011 Join us at the Hardy Plant Society’s 10th Annual March Into Spring Symposium, March 5th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 371 Wolcott Hill Road, Wethersfield, CT. Where Do I Start? The talk takes the audience through the design process and explains how it works. The Slides then reinforce the issues previously presented with before and after examples of work. It will also include a discussion of the role of a Landscape Architect and when a professional can be useful. Charles Carberry is an award winning designer with wide ranging experience both in residential and public gardens. He has been the Show Designer for the very successful Rhode Island Spring Flower and Garden Show and has also judged in the prestigious Boston Flower Show. Epimediums- Not Just Groundcovers Anymore - Known by some as the ultimate groundcover for dry shade. Karen Perkins will provide an oversight of the types and illustrate some of the exciting new evergreen species. She will discuss growth habit, propagation, sources, pests and diseases. Karen is owner of Garden Vision Epimediums which she started with Darrell Probst. It is a mail order nursery offering 180 species and varieties of Epimediums along with other choice shade perennials. The symposium starts at 10 am, and will include our renowned lunch of hearty soups. The cost for non-members is $35 until Feb. 19, $40 thereafter. Members pay $5 less. For those non-members who partake of this annual event we make a special offer: you can choose to become a member for the remainder of our membership year for the low cost of $5 per individual, $7.50 for a couple!"
