Crazy For Cranesbills
We begin our year with an exciting new speaker, Mary Anne
Brady who writes, “Gardening all my life, my mom was a
great teacher. When I got married in 1988, I finally sort of
'settled' down and got much more serious in my gardening
endeavors. I became a URI Master Gardener, and then went
on to become Certified Horticulturist and RI Tree Steward.
Then due to a divorce I started Cranesbill as a business,
designing and maintaining other people's properties. This
was from 2001 until the present, but then Nov. of 2009 I
took the ultimate plunge and bought a real live nursery, now
called Cranesbill Nursery (of course) in Swansea, MA. We
still maintain about 12 gardens but are also a full-fledged
nursery carrying 'unique plants'. We offer garden design,
installation and maintenance plus more, but you will have to
visit to see all of the changes. We are in the middle of our
second season and loving the challenge.”
I discovered Mary Anne when she wrote the lead article in
the lead article for the March 2010 CHS Newsletter. She will
be speaking to us on the subject Crazy for Cranesbills. She
will show the different varieties, hybrids, etc. and their
uses. Mary Anne will also discuss why she likes this plant
so much. The talk will also feature some nice combos and
how adaptable they are to different sites.
